PLEXIGLAS® Resist
The PLEXIGLAS® Resist family provides a wide range of impact PMMA grades. These impact-modified grades are used when applications require the benefits of PMMA in combination with improved crack resistance.
Depending on the basic molding compound, the impact-modified grades differ in their key properties, such as optimized flow or stress crack resistance. They are suitable for extruding and coextruding profiles and sheets and for injection molding formed parts.
PLEXIGLAS® Resist products can cover two different effects:
Impact performance during application
- During mechanical impact the rubber domains absorb energy
- Stop of crack propagation as micro-cracks are stopped when they reach a rubber domain
Effect as processing aid
- Screw feeding performance becomes more homogenous
- Good demolding properties during injection molding
- During extrusion and post treatment: Smooth cutting of edges and no chipping during drilling
